About us
Setúbal LGBTQ was created to help LGBTQ people in Setúbal build genuine social connections in a friendly, welcoming environment.
Why we meet
Our purpose is simple: to bring people together, help people meet new friends, reduce isolation and build community through social activities. Many members are new to the area or simply looking to expand their social circle. We value conversation, friendship, inclusion and mutual respect.
Who is welcome
We welcome lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning and other LGBTQ+ people, as well as supportive allies who share these values. People of different ages, nationalities, identities, backgrounds, experiences and opinions deserve dignity and respect.
What the group is
We are a social community focused on opportunities to talk, listen, meet people and build friendships. Events vary in size and format, but connection is always the point.
What the group is not
We are not a political, campaigning or lobbying organisation, a platform for political parties or ideologies, or a business networking group. We are not directly affiliated with Qardume Coletivo, Setúbal Pride (Facebook) or Queer Lisbon (Meetup), although we sometimes work with them and others.
Being part of the group
Please treat others respectfully, welcome newcomers, respect differences of opinion, avoid personal attacks and harassment, and help create a positive atmosphere. Discrimination or hostility towards any part of the LGBTQ+ community is inconsistent with our values.
A final note
We do not need to agree on everything to enjoy one another’s company. Friendship comes before politics. Community comes before division.
